The ingredients are listed in descending order by quantity, meaning that the first item on the list is the dominant ingredient, and so forth.
 
Watch out for labels that list sugar, refined flour or processed grains as top ingredients.
 
Instead opt for products that show healthy ingredients such as whole-wheat flour, soy, oats, fibre-items, natural sugar or monounsaturated fats, such as olive, canola or peanut oils.
